Cleo

Cleo is known for the iconic Cleo Bag, deemed an ‘It Bag’ by the New York Times in Fall ‘24.

The namesake brand was founded in Los Angeles by Cleo Camp who started Cleo from her living room as a means of personal expression beyond life as a set designer. Cleo is focused on the art of making - the craft in hand stitching, silhouette, fit to body and material textures.

Cleo Bags are designed for Day & Night, stemming from the idea that handmade garments can be worn every day when they’re built to last. Our collection handbags are hand sewn by a local artisanal team of three, with focus on construction and sustainable materials.

Before the official Cleo launch in March 2024, her first sale at Melet Mercantile sold out. On her own, she made and sold 300 silver bags in just a few months — she couldn’t sew fast enough.

Cleo pieces are meant to be worn, lived in and loved.

Wear them well.

Product Information

Cleo Bags are handmade by a team of three in Los Angeles. Our timeless handbags are sustainable and built to last.

Each handbag is cut and sewn by hand from Oeko-Tex certified by-product leather. Our top of line, award winning leather is certified the most sustainable on the market. Leather is considered a natural product which ensures durability over time. Our herbivore bags are made from Peta approved water based, fruit & vegetable leather.

Cleo Bags are meant to be worn every day and sewn to last.

Our Cleo Tees are sewn local in fine rib organic cotton.

Care

To clean leather and plant based bags we recommend Kaps, a biodegradable accessory solvent available in leather and suede cleaners. Keep suede away from water, rain and an abundance of sunscreen.

Denim, cotton and canvas bags can be machine washed on delicate tap cold and air dried to avoid shrinking.

All bags are fit for dry cleaning.

Cleo Tees - hand wash or machine wash on delicate tap cold to ensure longevity and secure our double button signature. Wash white tees with whites to preserve color. To whiten your tee after use, wash with Woolite.

Brand Information

Cleo is a fair trade brand. We pay equal wages.

From day one, Cleo has made conscious decisions to reduce waste and re-use leftover materials. Cleo began solely as a scrap-based brand and as demand grew, Cleo committed to prototyping with alternate leathers as they become available and sourcing leather responsibly - this is a priority as our brand expands.
